Warwick BA Postdoctoral Fellowships

The Department of Classics & Ancient History at Warwick University is looking to support applicants working in areas related to the department’s current research interests for the British Academy Postdoctoral Research Fellowship scheme (3 years).

The Department of Classics and Ancient History at Warwick is ranked second in the UK for research income per capita. Our research specialisms include ancient literature and thought, Greek and Roman history, material culture, Greco-Arabic studies, the history of medicine, numismatics, epigraphy, ancient space, global history and the reception of classical cultures in the Renaissance.

The scheme offers an ‘opportunity to outstanding early career researchers to strengthen their experience of research and teaching in a university environment which will develop their curriculum vitae and improve their prospects of obtaining permanent lecturing posts by the end of the Fellowship. The primary emphasis is on completion of a significant piece of publishable research, which will be assisted by full membership of an academic community of established scholars working in similar fields’.

The scheme will be open to applicants within three years of the award of a doctorate (with their viva held between 1 April 2018 and 1 April 2021; please see the website below for information about elegibility and extenuating circumstances).

Applications are now open. Prospective applicants should send an up-to-date CV and a one-page project description to Prof. Victoria Rimell (V.Rimell@Warwick.ac.uk) by September 10th, 2020. Prior to that, applicants should contact a potential mentor in the department and discuss the application with her or him. We hope to be able to let candidates know whether we will support their applications as soon as possible after September 10th.
